Following on with the healthy diet theme this week, i’d like to talk about specific diet food. When I say diet food I mean a healthy high-protein low-carb foods and snacks, natural products and anything that helps boost energy levels during fitness.
I recently tried a range of hot meals, shakes, sweet and savoury snacks from the guys at Exante Diet for a week to see what all the fuss was about. I always cook homemade meals with fresh products as opposed to oven meals but the snacks in particular were really interesting to me.
As you might have read in my previous post, my workout routine and hunger go hand in hand. I get so hungry after a workout that you need something there to grab and the option of healthy snacks, in particular protein snacks, is important to have.
They’ve just brought out a new wholesome range with a variety of decent options, including high protein pancakes and granola, crisps and crackers.
I tried a whole range of protein snacks including chocolate orange bar, peanut butter and chocolate mint cookie (nice right?). The raspberry and white chocolate bar was by far my favourite as it was just so tasty and filled that gap between after the gym and meal time. I also tried the cottage pie and chili con carne meals (pictured), which, to be fair, tasted really fresh for an oven meal and a really quick healthy choice if you’re in a rush (20 mins in the oven).
I wouldn’t say I felt any better after the week but I didn’t feel bad in the first place, each person reacts differently to different foods. I can definitely see the benefits of products like this and it gives you great energy around your fitness regime and workouts, allowing you to get those snack cravings out the way and have healthy meals when you don’t have the time to cook up a full meal, or eating for one.
