Let’s be honest, 2020 has been the strangest year. Obviously there’s the dreaded C word lingering over us everywhere we look, on social media, the news, newspaper and even advertising boards, and with COVID-19 has come many trends and changes to the way we learn, converse and socialise.
It seems surreal when you are watching a TV programme filmed before the pandemic, and you see people hugging, shaking hands and even standing next to strangers in crowds, and even though the drugs/medications to help stop the pandemic are in the latter stages, I feel some aspects of how we’ve changed will stay with us for the long run. Individuals and businesses will turn to video conversations rather than face-to-face meetings, as we have seen it already works, along with regular hand washing become the normal when it comes to being in public. I can’t even imagine shaking hands being a thing again!
With this in mind, where possible, now is the perfect time for businesses to adapt to the way they run day-to-day, with things like employee training and development being at the forefront of plans whilst some individuals may have extra time on their hands. Luckily, there are plenty of businesses that supply training through virtual classrooms, online courses, video chats, meaning you can prepare for the future, but also do it safely at a time when people may feel anxious about joining up with individuals outside of their close acquaintances.
From an individuals point of view, there are many online courses out there to learn and improve your CV at a time when no industry is safe, everything from design, languages, software, technology or management can really have a positive impact when looking for a new job or changing career. It’s a good time to be a student as many other people are in the same boat, meaning the online world has plenty of communities sharing tips and advice between each other.
