5 Places To Visit For Some Last Minute Autumn Sunshine

Those nights are drawing in and summer is well and truly over. Therefore, we find ourselves craving some last minute sunshine before winter makes an appearance. Autumn is a brilliant time to get away for a last minute break. During the summer months you can find tourist attractions busy and beaches crowded. Going on holiday during autumn means that everywhere is far quieter. You don’t get need to to travel far to find paradise either, with Europe on our doorstep we have plenty of options for some last minute sunshine.

Sardinia

Sardinia is becoming increasingly popular. It was once a well kept secret but now it is very busy over the summer season. Open a magazine and you will find a whole host of celebrities sunning themselves on the stunning beaches in Sardinia. However, come autumn and the island is very quiet and you could have that beach to yourself. Running from September, Sardinia has a series of festivals that take place across its 27 villages in Barbagia.

Portugal

During the summer Portugal can be extremely hot and busy.  Summer  is not the ideal time to visit if you want to do some exploring as you will find it far too hot for walking. However, October is the perfect time to visit if you are planning a hiking holiday. There are many archeological sites for you to explore and everywhere is far quieter. Just make sure you visit in October and no later, because in November the weather turns and most of the rain falls between November and March.

Cyprus

Cyprus is perfect for some late autumn sunshine. It is still very warm with temperatures reaching well into the 30s. This is perfect for those looking for a lazy beach break. The sea is still warm and the beaches won’t be too busy. Coral Bay is the perfect beach for enjoying the sunshine and the beach also has blue flag status.

Lanzarote, Canary Islands

The island’s proximity to Africa and lack of high mountains means that Lanzarote offers some of the best weather in the world! October is the perfect time to visit Lanzarote. It is still very warm but far quieter. That means that can often pick up some great deals on flights and hotels. You will find that the sea is actually warmer during autumn than it is during the summer. If you visit during October then you will be able to enjoy the ‘Visual Music Festival’. The music festival takes place in two auditoriums, located in volcanic caves. It is an amazing experience for the performers and the audience!

Saint-Tropez, France

Saint-Tropez is a resort that is the epitome of glamour. Come autumn and Saint-Tropez is far quieter. This resort is still flashy though and bound to impress. However, you will find that the beaches are emptier and you can enjoy those posh restaurants in peace. No one wants to worry about the paparazzi when they are eating their lobster. Visit Saint-Tropez during October and you will find the annual Regatta Les Voiles de St Tropez taking place. This sees 30 yachts from all over the world, competing in a week of festivities and racing.

Save your pennies for the amazing restaurants and stay where the locals live. An Airbnb is a great option. There are really reasonable and gorgeous apartments for you to stay in.
