Reasons Why You Hate Your Home (And What You Can Do About Them)

We are supposed to love coming back to our homes at the end of each day. This should be the place where we relax and unwind, but for many of us, our home can also become our worst enemy. The drip of a leaky tap, the creak of a rusty door, and the sound of our noisy neighbours can almost make us loathe the place we are living in.

These are some of the reasons why you are beginning to hate your home, and some useful tips for dealing with them.

Your house is always cold

You shouldn’t be wrapping up in your winter clothes in the middle of the summer, so you need to find better ways of keeping warm inside your house. Check your heating system, and if your radiators aren’t working properly, head to this website to look at replacing them. Then make sure you aren’t losing heat through your doors and windows by sealing any gaps with caulk and weather stripping. Heat rises through the roof, so consider insulating your loft as well.

The little things are starting to annoy you

They may be small things, but they can build up and drive you crazy after a while. The simple answer is: deal with them! Get your toolkit out and deal with any DIY job you have been putting off over the last few months. Deal with that leaky tap, patch up those tiny holes and deal with that lopsided picture that has been bothering you for ages. You will feel a lot better when you have sorted out these minor annoyances, and you will have a sense of accomplishment to boot!

You have noisy neighbours

For those of who live in a home with thin walls, our neighbours can drive us bonkers. You don’t want to listen to their music every day, or deal with the sound of their incessant lovemaking! You come home for peace and quiet, so what can you do about them? Well, you could kindly ask them to turn down their stereo system for starters. You might even befriend them and turn them into friends rather than bitter enemies. Failing that, and you have the worst neighbours in the world, read the advice here for some effective ways in dealing with them.

You are bored of your living space

We can all do with a change every so often, so if you are bored of your living space, give it a makeover. A fresh lick of paint will brighten up the walls, and you could rearrange the furniture to mix things up a little. You could also spend some of your hard-earned cash, and treat yourself to something new.  You don’t need to spend a fortune, on the latest tv for example, but comfort spending is something we all do from time to time to make ourselves feel better. Consider your hobbies, and transform your living space into an extension of them.

The silver lining

No home is perfect, and at least you have somewhere to live! We do hope you fall in love with your home again, though.
