Whether you’re a film buff, tv addict or box set fanatic, we all need a good home entertainment setup to be able to properly enjoy our favourite content. If your current system currently isn’t cutting the mustard or you’re just looking to upgrade, here are just a few things to take into consideration. Family movie night or watching the sports with friends will never be the same again!

A Large TV or Projector
Every year, more and more impressive televisions are released. And best of all, they’re more affordable than ever, so if you’re due an upgrade, it’s well worth the investment. Most new TVs now include ‘ultra HD’ technology which gives you a resolution of 3840 x 2160. Awesome right? If you’re lucky enough to have your own cinema room at home, you could go with a projector instead. The perfect way to watch movies and get that cinema feel without forking out a fortune for tickets every week.
A Fantastic Sound System
It’s your sound system that will really create that surround sound ‘cinema’ feel. You need a high-quality system, and then to work out the best placement. Spend some time getting each speaker in the correct spot for the best experience. You can spend all you want on fantastic picture, but if it’s not backed up with great sound too you’re sure to be left disappointed. A sound bar is a good alternative to surround sound, especially in smaller rooms (or bedrooms). It creates a similar effect to surround sound but without speakers everywhere.
Great Content to Watch
Now you have a great home cinema, you need some awesome content to watch! Streaming services like Netflix are one option and give you plenty of choices. One cool hack is if you use a VPN you can actually access content that can only be viewed in other countries. It’s safe and legal, of course, Netflix isn’t thrilled with it, but it’s something you are able to do! If you’re just starting out this article is for you. A selection of your favourite films on DVD or purchased online are ideal for movie night when you need a fail- safe option to watch. If you’re a fan of the sports, it might be worth upgrading your tv package to get the additional channels. They can be kind of expensive, but it’s worth it if it’s something you will enjoy and use.
Comfy Seating
Finally, to properly be able to enjoy your content you need the right seating. If you’ve set up a home cinema room, you could go all out and get recliners or even actual cinema style seating. Otherwise comfy sofas with plenty of soft furnishings like throws and cushions will allow you to fully relax and make the most of your nights in.
When was the last time you updated your home entertainment system? Do you like movie nights at home, or prefer to catch newer films when they’re out at the cinema?
