If you’ve not been hiding in a hole this past year, you’ll know one of the things that blew up in 2016 were adult colouring books, a stress-free way of passing time and bringing back those memories of being young and easily pleased. They’re great for everything from tackling anxiety to increasing vision and concentration.
One thing I noticed though is many of these books were getting repetitive, with most featuring aztec or garden patterns. I’m surprised one can sell more than the other, and I feel theres a real lack of modern versions with current portraits or affairs out there for me. That is until i’ve recently discovered “Color Me Cool” though…
“Color Me Cool” is fresh out of Los Angeles in the United States and is a series of colouring books inspired by the culture, and created for the culture. Each book will feature a new artist and book one is released this week for $20 (about £16 to us), featuring the beautiful portrait illustrations of McKinley Illo based in Manchester, UK.
This one is right up my street to be fair, it includes 26 hand-drawn, influential figures in men’s fashion to edit and I have to say, they’re like nothing i’ve seen in a colouring book.
I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy and get colouring the likes of Kanye West, Ronnie Fieg and Rick Owens to name a few! Check out the photos on Instagram to get a feel for whats involved. The brand as a whole just oozes cool to me.
Have you got any adult colouring books, or are you feeling this one? Let us know in the comments below…
