I know it’s not the end of the month yet, but with it officially being the start of Spring, it means Summer is just around the corner (wishful thinking) and the festival season kicked off last week with Miami Music Week. I’ve already booked tickets to Kendal Calling and Parklife this Summer, which means with every mix i’m daydreaming about being in the field, sun out, beer in hand and my favourite DJs supplying the soundtrack.
With this, i’ve decided to take a look at the best new mixes i’ve heard this month, because why not?
Jackmaster b2b Armand Van Helden live from Miami
I heard this one as part of Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show live from Miami Music Week, where the pair got together for his infamous pool party. Jackmaster is up there in my top 10 and always brings the party vibe, whether on his own or b2b (his set with Oneman as part of CAN U DANCE 2 years ago at Bestival was unreal) so when I heard he’s doing gigs with the legend Armand Van Helden I just knew it would be a belter.
They’re playing Parklife together so i’ll be all over that, Jackmaster’s actually doing 3 sets accross the weekend so I wont miss out. It’s just proper party tunes as you would expect from these 2 and from the recording you can tell it went off! Featuring tracks from Butch, KiNK, just over 30 mins of it can be heard below…
Julia Govor b2b Lauren Lane live from Miami
Taken from the same show as above (and same pool party, wish I was there…) this is possibly the best looking b2b i’ve seen. π I first heard Lauren Lane from the live stream of Miami last year on the Arcadia stage and been hooked to her Soundcloud since. Linking up with Julia Govor for her first ever b2b was pretty seamless, and I believe these 2 are set to take over the underground scene.
The radio show also features an interview with the two, which is pretty interesting. I first listened to this mix in the gym and swear I spent an extra half hour in there because I didn’t want it to end.
FMB Mixtape 38: Gonno
If you’re not subscribed to the Feel My Bicep podcast series on iTunes/Apple Music then you’re missing out! The Bicep fellas are my favourite DJs so I trust their judgement in which artists to pick for the series and this one caught my attention.
Recorded in Tokyo, this mix from Japanese artist Gonno is 75 minutes of pure summery techno with a similar sound to Bicep, featuring future releases from himself too. I really rate it and will certainly be keeping an eye out from the man on any festival or club line ups. Have a listen yourself and let me know what you think…
Love this! This just screams summer holidays for me, takes me back to holidays in Zante!
Roll on the sun shine π
Yes! Summer always will be the best season and these mixes are the perfect soundtrack…
