This is a video of artist Jay Shells‘ latest project, creating a kind of walking tour of Hip Hop around New York. He has made plaques with Rap lyrics on and placed them in the area mentioned in the lyrics. This is a great little project, bringing the public to the same places Rappers got the ideas for the lyrics. An example is Jay Z’s lyrics “Cough up a lung where I’m from/ Marcy son, ain’t nothin’ nice,” which Jay Shells placed outside Marcy Houses in Brooklyn. Nice little project, simple but creative.
These would look great on a festival tshirt don’t you think?
